Queen Drummer to unveil 'The Drummer' Sculpture in Truro - 08/06/2011
The 15ft sculpture of 'The Drummer' created by internationally renowned sculptor Tim Shaw will be unveiled in Lemon Quay by Queen drummer Roger Taylor on June 25th 2011 at 7:30pm.
As symbols of Cornish Industry the sculpture contains an ingot of tin, donated by Mark Wills of Blue Hills Cornish Tin, and an ingot of copper donated by brothers Simon and Viv Hendra from Truro. The copper ingot, salvaged from the SS St George in 2001, is thought to have been cast in 1882 for the Cornwall Copper Company.
The event will be marked by bands of drummers approaching Lemon Quay from all over the city while banging the same beat. Any drummers who would like to get involved should contact Donald Martin on 01872 224735.
