Free business start-up event at Earls Court London - 19/10/2011
The FSB will once again support the Business Startup show on 17-18 November at Earls Court in London. The show is set to be the largest yet as The Great British Business show, a sister event geared towards larger businesses and SMEs, will be held at the same time.

The event is completely free. It will be packed with more than 350 exhibitors and will host more than 250 seminars with leading business speakers, including James Caan, Will King, David Gold and Penny Power. In addition to all of this, there will be a number of workshops held by organisations like Google, and live events including Speed Networking and The Midas Touch – again all free to take part in.

The FSB is a proud partner of the show, and will for the second time host its own ‘FSB village' open to all delegates. Our contribution to the show will be focussed on our new campaign which aims to provide ‘real help for Real-Life Entrepreneurs'. We will be joined by high profile political speakers like Anne-Marie Morris MP, Chair of the Micro-Business All-Party Parliamentary Group, Ian Murray MP of the Business, Innovations and Skills Select Committee, and Brian Binley MP, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Small Business Group.

Register now at www.greatbritishbusinessshow.co.uk or www.bstartup.com or call 0800 328 0467. Tickets will gain you entry to both shows, all seminars and workshops. Some features have to be booked in advance, and are on a first come first serve basis.

FSB Opens Emergency Fund for Flooded Cornish Businesses - 20/11/2010
The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) has opened its Disaster Recovery Fund for its members in Cornwall, following the recent heavy rain and flooding in the area – ironically the fund reopens on the anniversary of last year's floods in Cumbria.

The FSB is offering interest-free loans of up to £5,000 to help small firms cover costs associated with keeping their business trading and with repair to their premises.

Mike Eathorne-Gibbons, Mid-Cornwall Branch Chairman, Federation of Small Businesses, said:

"Small businesses in Cornwall have been adversely affected by the heavy rain and flooding, at a time when they are doing all they can to move firmly into recovery. FSB members in the area will really benefit from an interest-free loan to help get them back to business as soon as possible. It is also important that customers know that Cornwall is still open for business."

John Walker, National Chairman, Federation of Small Businesses said: "The past year has been difficult for FSB members up and down the country, so the last thing otherwise successful small firms need is unpredictable weather and flooding that affects their prospects of survival. The FSB wants to ensure that the long-term damage to the areas affected is mitigated and is calling on all bodies, public and private, to work together closely and effectively.
