The Leach Pottery at Lower Stennack, near St Ives is considered by many to be the birthplace of British studio pottery. One of the great figures of 20th century art, Bernard Leach played a crucial pioneering role in creating an identity for artist potters. The old pottery is preserved and open to the public with exhibitions showing the story of Bernard Leach’s life and legacy. A new working pottery now operates, producing new work on site. Exhibition and gallery spaces provide regular shows throughout the year featuring work by leading regional, national and international studio potters.

Claydays - Family Fun Sessions - 02/08/2010
Leach Pottery are hosting CLAYDAYS - Family Fun sessions on Wednesdays from 4th to 25th August, 11am and 2pm. The sessions provide an opportunity for hands-on creative making activities for children and adults to enjoy together. Ages 6-12 £3 per child per workshop.
The Dartington Years' Exhibiition opens at Leach Pottery. - 02/08/2010
Between 1925 and 1946 the Leach Pottery in St Ives was deeply intertwined, philosophically and financially, with the Dartington Hall community in South Devon. This exhibition looks at the role played by the Elmhirsts of Dartington in the early development of the Leach Pottery and introduces a part of their fine collection of pottery, gathered under the guidance of Bernard Leach and currently held at High Cross House on the Dartington Estate in Totnes, Devon. The exhibition will run to the end of the year and the gallery is open Monday to Saturday 10am to 5pm and Sunday 11am to 4pm.
