Food banks are often run by churches and provide help to people in crisis by providing free emergency food for 3 days, or 10 balanced meals, in exchange for a voucher issued by a registered care agency such as Social Services, Health Visitors, Doctors, Probation Offices, Church Pastoral Workers and schools to assist. They rely on the support of local communities as the food is often donated by the community and sorted by volunteers. Each box contains a minimum of three days nutritionally balanced, non-perishable food.
